Dr. Janaki Shah is an Indiana native and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She obtained her medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency & gastroenterology fellowship training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Dr. Shah is a gastroenterologist with clinical interests in inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, immune-mediated gastrointestinal disorders, general gastroenterology, and colorectal cancer prevention. She is experienced in upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures and is passionate about delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with both chronic and acute digestive conditions.
She is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Shah believes that “the foundation of excellent care begins with understanding each patient’s story. I strive to build meaningful relationships, listen closely, and partner with patients to create treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and lived experiences.” She is committed to patient education, shared decision-making, and improving quality of life through personalized evidence-based care.
In her free time, Dr. Shah enjoys staying active, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. She has a strong commitment to community service and has volunteered extensively with underserved populations
